Yakubu Adesokan made Nigeria proud by breaking world record, and winning a Gold medal at the 2012 Paralympics in London, on Thursday evening. Adesokan lifted 178kg, over three times his body weight, in the men’s 48kg category.
“I feel overjoyed. I went through a lot of training. I have been training for two months in Korea,” Adesokan said.
“Once I went through that training, there was no way I was going to fail,” he added.
Russia’s Vladimir Balynetc won the game’s silver medal with a lift of 170 kg, while Taha Abdelmagid of Egypt won the bronze with a lift of 165 kg.
